Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung expressed his condolences for the death of a student after a traffic accident on Jalan Matraman Raya, East Jakarta, on Monday (2/9) morning.
I express my condolences
"On behalf of the Jakarta Provincial Government, I express my condolences for the passing of Aldi Suryaputra, a student at SMK 34 Jakarta who was involved in a single traffic accident this morning," he said.
Reporting Potholes Just Got Easier with Jakarta’s New HotlinePramono explained that based on CCTV footage at the scene, the incident was a single-vehicle accident caused by potholes and slippery road conditions. The accident occurred while the victim was riding at high speed.
"We've monitored the CCTV footage, and the cause of the accident was a slippery, potholed road, followed by high speed. So, this was a single-vehicle accident," he added.
The victim was rushed to the National Police Hospital with direct assistance from the Head of the Education Agency and the school principal. However, his life could not be saved.
Pramono also confirmed that the Jakarta Provincial Government would cover all hospital costs and prepare a burial plot at Menteng Pulo Public Cemetery.
"Hospital costs are fully covered by the Jakarta Provincial Government. We have also arranged for a funeral at the Menteng Pulo Cemetery," he continued.
To prevent a similar incident from happening again, Pramono has instructed the Public Works Agency to immediately carry out temporary patching of potholes on roads, considering that rainfall in Jakarta is predicted to remain high until mid-February.
"I've instructed the Public Works Agency, even though rainfall is expected to remain erratic and sometimes heavy until the 18th or 19th, to close all potholes. This is a temporary measure," he stated.
